SEPTEMBER 26, 2026 · THE HARVEST MOON
A little light
to keep.
Evergreens beyond the window. A little rain. A moon that is still there when you cannot see it.

The Harvest Moon reaches its full phase on Saturday, September 26, at 9:49 a.m. Pacific in Portland. You can make a little ceremony in the evening, or whenever the house gives you a quiet minute. Clouds do not have to interrupt it.
Gather what is already yours
A warm cup. A piece of paper. A pen. If you like, set a crystal beside them: clear quartz for a clear intention, rose quartz for tenderness, or smoky quartz for the feeling of setting something down. These are symbols you can give meaning to. An ordinary stone or an empty palm works too.
Keep crystals beside the cup, out of your drink and out of reach of little mouths and paws. No flame, smoke or special purchase is needed.
A cup for the moon
Let the ordinary moment be your cue to arrive. Notice something good, and give yourself room to choose one next step.
Three small acts
- Gather. Write one thing this season has given you, even if it is small.
- Release. Write one expectation you are ready to put down. Fold that line inward.
- Invite. Finish: “I am making room for…” Then choose one kind, practical action that belongs to it.
Say the words
Rain on the glass, moon through the pine,
I call my scattered light back mine.
What nourishes me, let it remain.
What weighs me down, I set in the rain.
With open hands and one small start,
I make a little room in my heart.
Take a sip. Let your fingertips meet. Keep the line you want to remember somewhere you will see it tomorrow.
A wish with somewhere to go
“I welcome steadier days” might become a simpler morning. “I welcome connection” might become one thoughtful message. “I welcome creative work” might become ten minutes with the idea you keep postponing. Let the wish have a small, ordinary place to land.
Rest can be the action too.
