SEPTEMBER 22 · A SMALL CEREMONY
A quiet closing.
A day does not always end when the work ends. Sometimes it follows us into the next room, asking to be checked one more time.
Try giving it a small closing ceremony. No special objects required. Just a piece of paper and words you mean.
Three lines, then a pause
- Write one thing you have finished. Let it stay finished.
- Name one thing that can wait. Give it tomorrow, or another day you choose.
- Write one thing you welcome now: quiet, warmth, company, a little room to breathe.
I can set this day down.
What is done may rest.
What comes next can wait its turn.
Fold the paper. Put it somewhere private. The words are yours to keep, change, or leave behind.
